Q: What’s one of your best food prep tips?
A: You’ve heard me say it before, so I’ll say it again: invest in some disposable gloves for food prep! This may be a duh sort of tip, but it has really helped me in the kitchen! I actually started doing this a few years ago at the suggestion of my boyfriend, when I was going through a very bad eczema/psoriasis outbreak. It was incredibly difficult and painful to wash dishes, handle food–basically anything that involved using my hands. I still use disposable gloves today when handling raw meat (making meatballs, hamburger patties, etc.), chopping up spicy peppers, and when I’m peeling lots and lots of veggies that are notorious for staining such as zucchini and carrots. Bonus: I no longer have to explain to dinner guests why my hands are stained green.
Bottom line: An obvious tip, but food prep gloves make things a whole lot easier. What about you? Share your response in the comments below!
